The driver, whose name and age have not been made public, managed to get himself out of the wreckage. He remains at a hospital, Simpson said. His condition is not known.
All told, the damage included three automobiles, the lower floor of at least one of the townhomes and structural damage to three others.
Simpson estimated the damage at $75,000 to $100,000 “at minimum.”
He called it “a pretty impressive looking crash.”

At least two specialized crews are continuing their work to stabilize four Springboro townhomes at Parkside Row that were damaged when a car slammed into the occupied garage of one of the units.
Residents in three of the units will be able to return tonight, but residents in one of the units will have to find lodging elsewhere, an official with Deercreek Twp. Rescue 57 said.
Rescue 57 and the city of Lebanon Confined Space Rescue unit have brought tools and loads of wood to stabilize the section of townhomes.
Fire-and-rescue crews from the city of Franklin and Sugarcreek Twp. are also on scene, with Clearcreek Twp. fire and rescue.

Springboro resident Tracy Murchison, out running errands, thought she saw a deer dart across the road.
"I saw a small tree go down," she recalled, thinking she was seeing things. "I looked... to the left... and realized that's a car."
Not totally realizing what happened, she continued with her errands. On her way home, she saw all the damage done at the Parkside Row townhomes in Springboro.
Then, the reality hit her.
"No, I really did see a car fly in front of me, literally missing me ... and then just went into the building," she said.
Murchison hopes the driver will be OK.
Springboro police tell us the driver has been taken to Kettering Health Network Emergency Center in Franklin. His condition is not known.
"It happened so fast," she said. "I'm really thankful that he missed me."

The accident at the Parkside Row townhomes in Springboro may have involved a driver who suffered a medical condition, a Clearcreek Twp. fire official said.
Witnesses tell us the male was unconscious when they saw him still in the vehicle before fire crews arrived on the scene, in the 600 - 700 block of Brownstone Row.
Four units have been evacuated, although the exact number of residents affected is not immediately known.
Deerfield Twp. Rescue 57 is on scene to shore up the property.
INITIAL REPORT
A car a witness said appeared to be speeding crashed into the garage of a residence at the Parkside Row townhomes in the 600 block of Brownstone Row in Springboro.

The witness said the car came off state Route 741, continued through a large field and crashed into a garage containing two vehicles.
The driver, a male believed to be in his 30s, has been taken to a hospital. His condition is not known, according to Clearcreek Twp. firefighters.
The incident was dispatched just after 4:30 p.m.
