The Warren County Career Center will host an open house for its adult education programs as well as a job fair from noon to 8 p.m. on Aug. 8.

Last year, more than 8,000 adults participated in courses offered by WCCC to gain skills for a new career or to pick up new skills that would allow them to advance in their current professions.

On Wednesday, coordinators and instructors will provide tours of the facility’s various labs and explain the programs offered by the WCCC, said Donna Cox, Business and Industry Coordinator for WCCC.

Counselors will also be available to assess career interests and how those interests can mesh with programs offered by WCCC. Counselors will also be able to discuss financial aid, how to apply and what is required for admission to the WCCC. General information tours will begin in the Media Center every half hour between 1 and 7 p.m. and are free

A job fair featuring many area employers will be held from 1-7 p.m. in the WCCC commons area. Cox said that seven employers had signed up for the fair and more were expected to join. Among employers already confirmed for the fair are Countryside YMCA, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, several health care agencies and Triple A Waste Water.

At the job fair, the WCCC will offer free dependability and safety screenings of applicants to assist employers with the hiring process, Cox said.

Business owners and employers are also invited to a complimentary lunch at 11:45 a.m. to learn about WCCC’s new assessment and testing center and it job placement center resource for area employers.

“The Job Placement Center is a new concept we are developing to connect employers and past and current students,” Cox said. “The center will allow employers to post open positions on-line and then send that listing to students in that particular course of study.”

The Job Placement Center will be launching in early September, Cox said.

Programs beginning in the fall include: advanced manufacturing technologies including electrical power line mechanic, HVAC technician and AWS certified welding; cosmetology; health & medical professions including medical assisting, billing and coding, pharmacy technician, phlebotomy technician and EKG technician; heavy equipment/site construction technology; information technology; basic police officer academy; certified business professional; Microsoft certified application specialist; commercial truck driver training; computer software training; and public safety services.
