Chaminade Julienne surpasses $20M fundraising goal to improve school

UPDATE @ 9:45 p.m. (Sept. 14): Chaminade Julienne Catholic High School in Dayton has exceeded a $20 million fundraising goal to support and improve school operations and facilities.

In 2011, school officials launched a campaign initiative later called LIFT — Leading in Faith Today — with a $20 million goal to support school operations, strengthen the school’s endowment, improve the campus and the teaching and learning environment, and develop student programming.

The campaign, which was announced publicly in 2014, has raised $21.2 million.

LIFT capital improvements completed to date include the school’s tennis center (2011), the CJ STEMM Center (2013), classrooms (2015), the cafeteria (2015), performing arts rehearsal space (2015) and the auditorium (2016).

School officials said members of the community were so inspired by the progress being made possible because of LIFT, they contributed gifts amounting to $7.5 million beyond the priorities outlined in LIFT. One such project is Roger Glass Stadium, Home of the CJ Eagles, which opened in August 2016.

“Together, we dreamed big and have made history,” President and CEO Dan Meixner told benefactors at a celebratory dinner Wednesday night. “We have celebrated along the way, as each new initiative or project came to fruition, but now we celebrate the conclusion of this journey of faith and hope.”

Mayor Nan Whaley visited school Wednesday to announce that Sept. 14, 2016, has been officially declared Chaminade Julienne Catholic High School Day in Dayton.
