Wednesday's Business headlines

OXFORD — CompuNet Clinical Laboratories has opened its 25th patient service center at 10 N. Locus St., Suite C, said Kim Stanforth, CompuNet spokeswoman.

CompuNet said it provides medical testing of blood, skin and other samples for patients with a doctor’s order by walk-in. Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The Oxford center also offers wellness-focused lab tests that can be purchased directly, without a doctor’s order, such as blood draws and glucose and lipids testing, Stanforth said.

CompuNet, based in Moraine, has a location in Middletown. The lab accepts major health insurance plans, Medicare and Medicaid. For more information, call CompuNet’s main office at (800) 686-2252.

The Oxford center plans to add staff as it grows, she said. The company opened the Oxford site to accommodate several physician customers in the area.

Local companies finalists for Ohio chamber award, check

Three companies in Butler and Warren counties are among 25 finalists for Ohio Chamber of Commerce’s Excellence in Entrepreneurship award.

They are:

• Avalon by Otterbein of Lebanon, nominated by The Chamber of Commerce Serving Middletown, Monroe & Trenton;

• Electronic Document Service, Inc., of Fairfield, nominated by the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce

• Hamilton Caster & Manufacturing Co. of Hamilton, nominated by the Greater Hamilton Chamber of Commerce.

“This is the most finalists we’ve ever had,” said Julie Wagner Feasel, Ohio chamber spokeswoman.

The award, in its third year, will be presented in Columbus May 10 by Gov. John Kasich as part of the Ohio chamber’s Annual Meeting & Legislative Reception, the chamber said. It is designed to identify, honor and financially assist a company in Ohio that is demonstrating the historical innovative spirit of the state, according to the chamber. Winners receive $25,000.

The chamber that nominated the winner gets $1,000, the chamber said.

Several community members called to nominate Hamilton Caster to Greater Hamilton Chamber of Commerce, said Kenny Craig, the chamber’s president and chief executive officer.

“As we looked at the stability of the company and the way they run the company and how they compete, they were our obvious choice,” Craig said.
