An estimated 15 to 20 acres of corn burned, according to fire officials. The cause of the fire seems to have started with a harvest machine that ignited the corn due to the warm conditions.

Crews filled up their brush trucks at the road, which is about 200 to 300 yards away, then went back out to put the fire out.

Old Springfield Road is blocked in both directions while crews handle the fire.
