DRC is battling coronavirus outbreaks at Pickaway, Marion and Franklin Medical Center. Widespread testing of staff and inmates at the three prisons has uncovered huge infection rates. At the medical center, 110 inmates — about 25% — have tested positive. At Marion, of 2,462 prisoners, 81% have tested positive. At Pickaway, 78% of the 1,961 inmates have tested positive.

Confirmed cases have been found in all but three of Ohio’s 28 state prisons.

As of Monday, 37,198 inmates are in quarantine and 3,769 have tested positive for the virus. Seventeen inmates have died of confirmed cases and two others have died of probable COVID19 cases.

Additionally, 383 staff members have tested positive.
