From the moment they decided to marry, Tim Horn and Ariella Brown knew the day it should be and the person to preside over the ceremony.

And so on Valentine’s Day, the couple stood before Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley at City Hall and took the plunge.

“Valentine’s Day has always been our special day,” Brown said Friday.

Horn says Valentine’s Day is a beautiful occasion.

“I love this woman,” Horn said. “And I’m ready to start a family with her.”

Mayor Whaley had three weddings scheduled for Valentine’s Day, which she says is one of her busiest days of the year for marriage ceremonies.

The only days that rival it are those between Christmas and New Year’s, she said.

For $50, anyone can be married by the mayor.
