Spencer Izor, who owned the 5-year-old cat, Izzy, said she came home on March 1, to find her pet very ill, including falling down and vomiting a foamy, chemical smell.
Izor took her pet to a local veterinarian, who confirmed the cat had antifreeze crystals in his blood and kidneys and could not be saved.
The veterinarian told Izor she needed to put down her pet to avoid an extremely painful death, to which Izor agreed.
A toxicology report also indicated the antifreeze poisoning findings.
Police collected four cups on Mann’s property that contained the antifreeze and confronted Mann, who then confessed.
Police said Mann claimed he poisoned the cat because it had been scaring birds at his bird feeder and that he was tired of that happening.
Mann’s case has been ordered to probation for pre-sentence investigation. A disposition in the case is set for Oct. 7, according to a court filing.
