Crane crashes through Atlanta home

Officials are working to remove a crane that sliced through an Atlanta home.

DeKalb fire Capt. Eric Jackson said crews were using the crane to remove a giant oak tree from the backyard of the home

The crane flipped because of too much weight on one end and crashed into Andy and Suzanne Williams' home on Thursday, according to WSB. The boom reached all the way to the neighborhood behind the residence, the news station reported.

The homeowners were in the home at the time of the incident. While they escaped without injuries, they are concerned the home will cave in completely when the crane is gone, WSB reported.

“The structural wall runs through the center of the house and came to the left of it. We will figure out if the wall is still intact, that will be the big question mark,” Andy Williams told WSB.

“The most important thing is that we got out of the house alive, and we're very grateful and we thank God, for sure, for taking care of it,” Suzanne Williams said.

Three additional cranes had been brought in to help remove the toppled one on Friday. It is unclear what will happen to the home once the crane is removed.
