Crews rescue park visitor injured by large log along Great Miami River

A kayaker had to be rescued Tuesday evening after a large log fell on him.

MetroParks ranger, Sgt. Michael W. Lally, said a group was kayaking down the Great Miami River when they decided to move a large log.

They slipped in the grass, and the log fell on one of their friends around 7 p.m. along the Great Miami Recreational Trail off 3477 Needmore Road in Dayton.

The victim was trapped shortly until they could get the log off him, Lally said.

His injuries did not appear to be serious, he said, but crews had to take the victim through the park to get him medical attention.
