Police investigate after man is shot on Lexington Avenue in Dayton

UPDATE @ 2 a.m: Dayton police are investigating after a man was found shot on Lexington Avenue Wednesday morning.

According to officials, a preliminary investigation revealed the victim, who is only described as a man between the ages of 30 and 40, was shot in the area of Lexington and Salem Avenues.

Police say although it is unconfirmed, prior to the shooting, an altercation reportedly occurred at the BP gas station on the corner of Salem Avenue.

After being shot, the man then walked on Lexington Avenue toward Broadway Street where emergency personnel found him.

He was taken to Miami Valley Hospital with injuries believed not to be life threatening, according to authorities.  It not clear where the victim was shot on his body.

There are currently no suspects in custody for the incident.

Crews are responding to a reported shooting that occurred in the area of North Broadway Street and Lexington Avenue early Wednesday.

Initial reports indicate at least one person was found shot around 12:15 a.m.
