UPDATE: Body found inside Dayton garage that caught fire Monday morning

UPDATE @ 2 p.m.: 

A body was discovered inside a garage Tuesday on North Horton Street in Dayton that was damaged by fire the day before.

Police were requested around 11 a.m. Tuesday to the house in the first block of North Horton Street after a neighbor found the body inside the garage, according to dispatch records.

The day before, firefighters battled and extinguished a fire that broke out around 5:30 a.m. Monday. Initially, investigators said there were no injuries but that it appeared someone was living inside the garage.

Firefighters deferred all questions Tuesday to Dayton police and the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office, which will determine the person’s cause of death.

EARLIER REPORT

An investigation is underway in the area of East Third and South Horton streets.

According to our crew on scene, there are police and forensic services in the alley.
