Dayton police announced on social media that one of its K9s died suddenly while on duty early this morning with his handler Officer Robert Cleaver.
The 9-year-old dog, Phantom, was the longest-serving dog in the police department’s K9 unit. Phantom served for 7½ years.
Dayton police said that Cleaver has been on the K9 until for almost 20 years and that Phantom was his third partner.
