Dayton residents concerned about illegal dumping

Multiple police complaints have been filed within the last 48 hours about concerns of illegal dumping.

In one Dayton alley, there is furniture, tires, carpets, trash, and more that are now starting to attract animals.

Resident Larry Lewis said he’s called city hall to complain and now has filed a police report.

“I have trash in the alley, all around my house,” he said. “Trash, people throw dressers, mattresses, everything from the house is in that alley.”

The City of Dayton said they monitor over 70 hot spots for illegal dumping, and they’re adding more surveillance cameras to battle the problem.

Officials also say they’ve conducted 242 investigations since 2012 and more than half led to convictions.

If you get convicted of illegal dumping, it could cost you a $500 fine and six-months in jail.
