NewsCenter 7’s Sean Cudahy spoke with people about the outage in one of the busiest parts of town for restaurants on Miller Lane in Butler Twp.

The most common word used to explain their experience of suddenly having no water is ‘inconvenient’.

“Sometimes you want a hot shower when you’ve had a cold day, so it’s been a little hectic”, said Diana Fusch, who lives in Vandalia.

The outage is causing problems for not only Butler Twp., but businesses and restaurants all over Montgomery County.

Specifically along Miller Lane, Burger King and Frisch’s chose to close early, notifying customers by posting signs on their doors and blocking off the drive-thru.

One Frisch’s employee said as a result of the early closing, it could estimate to be a $3,000 hit to the business.

Restaurants expect busy days on Valentine’s Day, and those under a boil advisory are able to open today as long as they follow order, according to health officials.

With 400,000 people affected by the water outage, many residents rushed to their nearest Walmart to stock up on cases of bottled water from picked-over shelves, not knowing how long the issue will last.

“I don’t know how long it’s going to be out, so I just bought three cases”, said Sky Roberts, also a Vandalia resident.

A county spokeswoman said the issue, which started Wednesday afternoon, is believed to be due to a loss of pressure from a significant line.
