Members of the Dayton Brewers Alliance gathered Friday afternoon at Warped Wing Brewing Company in downtown Dayton to present an additional check for $65,454 to the Dayton foundation’s tornado-relief fund. The money was raised entirely from the sales and contributions of #DaytonStrong IPA, a special collaborative brew among local breweries.
The total raised by the breweries and local craft beer enthusiasts, from both the Dayton strong event held in 2019 and the sales of the special IPA, was $121,522.
“This is an example of what a community can do when it comes together and pools its resources,” said Carrie Dalrymple, community relations program officer for the Dayton Foundation. “This effort has been amazingly successful, and many people are going to benefit from it.”

The foundation’s tornado-relief fund has generated more than $2 million so far, foundation officials said.
Several local and regional breweries made versions of the special IPA to serve in their taprooms and to sell to other member breweries of the Dayton Brewers Alliance. Warped Wing canned more than 1,000 cases to distribute to the retail market.

“2019 has been a heartfelt and difficult year for the people of Dayton,” Nick Bowman, vice president of sales and marketing and managing partner at Warped Wing, said in an earlier news release. “That said, it’s amazing how people in our community come together to help friends and neighbors in need. It speaks to the level of character, care and giving that makes our city so great.”

Several brewery-supply companies and other support firms contributed raw materials or services to help make the #DaytonStrong IPA fund-raising effort a success, Bowman said.
