A home on Zerber Road was damaged Monday evening after a two-alarm fire destroyed a detached two-car garage and at least two vehicles.

Crews responded to the 800 block around 6:45 p.m. to a reported fully involved detached garage fire with exposures.

When crews arrived, the garage was fully engulfed in flames with the house also being exposed to the blaze, said Bradford Fire Department Assistance Chief Dave Richards.

Richards said a fast response and hard work from the responding crews in knocking down the fire is what minimized the damage to the house, which is feet from the garage.

“We were able to save the house,” he said. “That was our main goal.”

Crews from the Bradford Fire Department along with Gettysburg, Versailles, Russia and Covington Fire Departments all responded to the fire that remains under investigation.
