Distracted driver strikes utility pole, propane tank in Darke County crash

Crews responded around 8:30 a.m. to the 900 block on the reported rollover crash.

A 2004 GMC Envoy, driven by Bryan Adkins, 40, of Hollansburg, was traveling east on Hollansburg Arcanum Road when he was distracted and traveled off the left side of the road, collided with and knocked down a utility pole, then sideswiped another utility pole before traveling back onto the road.

The GMC then traveling back off the right side of the road, over-corrected, drove off the left side of the road through a yard, then went airborne and rolled one time before striking a residential propane tank.

Adkins was treated at the scene and released. He was cited for failure to maintain reasonable control.

Darke County deputies along with Hollansburg Fire, New Madison Fire and Tri-Village Rescue all assisted at the scene. Ferrellgas Company also responded to the scene to remove the propane tank.
