Don’t fall for phone scam, DP&L warns

Dayton Power and Light customers need to be wary of phone scammers posing as DP&L.

Scammers are said to demand customers make a payment or risk having their power shut off in 30 minutes -- but don’t give any personal information, DP&L says.

If you receive a call and believe it to be a phone scam, hang up and call DP&L at 800-433-8500.

Look out for calls that state your power will be shut off immediately if a payment is not made or ask you to send a prepaid debit card.

Phone scammers are said to often target small businesses and the elderly.

Scams don't just happen over the phone; scammers may visit your home or reach out through email or social media.

DP&L is working with police to put a stop to the scams.
