Early morning fire in Middletown investigated

Middletown firefighters are investigating the cause of a house fire early Monday morning.

Fire Chief Paul Lolli said firefighters responded to a house on fire about 4:37 a.m. in the 200 block of Eaton Avenue.

When medics arrived, they found the smoke from the exterior siding on one side of the single-family, two-story structure.

The owner of the home heard a loud bang or pop on the side of his house and a neighbor came to the front door to alert the family that the house was on fire, according to the preliminary report, Lolli said.

Lolli said four adults and four children living at the house were able to get out safely and no injuries were reported.

Investigators will return to the house this morning to investigate how the fire started, Lolli said.

Damages have not yet been determined.
