Goughenour was driving a 1996 Jeep Cherokee west on Warwick Road when the vehicle veered off the road and struck a tree.
He was transported by air to Miami Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:32 p.m.
A second unidentified Edgewood student was a passenger in the car and was transported to the Ft. Hamilton Hospital.
The accident remains under investigation by the Butler County Sheriff’s Office accident investigation unit and the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.
