October is National Bullying Prevention Month.
Students at Normandy Elementary are attending community meetings with school counselor Mrs. Durkle to talk about bully prevention.
At the meetings, students are reminded that bullying is unkind behavior and involves a power imbalance. They talked about how words can affect others in both positive and negative ways, and about ideas to help stop unacceptable behavior.
Each student was given an apple-shaped paper to write a kind message that will be displayed in the hall next week.
