When firefighters arrived on scene Thursday morning, one barn had already burned to the ground and the fire started to spread to a second, said Paul McCleskey, Village of Ansonia Fire Department, noting a semi was also on fire.
Fire crews from multiple jurisdictions responded to the barn, located in the 5100 block of Beamsville-Union City Road, per initial reports.
Crews worked to quickly put out the fire on the second barn before tending to the semi, he said. It’s unclear if the fire started in the barn or the vehicle, McCleskey said, noting that a fire investigator was called to the scene to determine the cause of the fire.
One firefighter suffered an ankle injury, but he’s expected to recover, McCleskey said.
