Sheriff: No arrests made after several fights erupt at Meadowdale High School

UPDATE @ 5:46 p.m.: No arrests were made at Meadowdale High School after several fights broke out on the campus, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.

Deputies were dispatched to the school just before 1:30 p.m. on a report of several disturbances on campus during the day.

Deputies were advised that a female student had been assaulted by several other students. During the investigation of that report, deputies said, several other disturbances among students occurred and that led to a call to outside police agencies for assistance.

Crews from the sheriff’s office, police from Dayton and Trotwood, rangers from Five Rivers Metro Parks and additional Dayton School Resource Officers responded.

The school was placed on lockdown to prevent further disturbances, the sheriff’s statement said. Deputies and the additional school resource officers remained at the school until dismissal at 4 p.m.

Sheriff’s detectives assigned to Harrison Twp. are continuing to investigate the assault and subsequent fights, according to the sheriff’s office.

Extra officers were requested to Meadowdale High School after a report of fights on the school’s campus.

The fights were reported around 2:05 p.m.

There were initial reports the school may be placed on lockdown.
