Falling granite slab causes head injuries to man

WEST CHESTER TWP. — A man was taken by medical helicopter to a local hospital because of head injuries today, Aug. 17, after a piece of granite he was unloading at a local business fell on him.

The accident occurred at approximately 10:25 a.m., today at Cincinnati Stoneworks, 7776 Service Center Drive, according to West Chester Twp. Fire Chief Anthony Goller.

The man’s name and condition have not yet been released, although emergency workers said he suffered head injuries severe enough that he was taken to the helipad at West Chester Medical Center, then airlifted to University Hospital.

He was not trapped under the large piece of granite estimated to weigh nearly half a ton, according to emergency personnel.
