The U.S. District judge who on Saturday granted an emergency stay to block President Trump’s executive order to deport refugees is an Oakwood High School graduate.
The Oakwood High School Alumni Association posted the news to its Twitter account Sunday night: “Proud of our alumni, US District Judge Ann Donnelly, Class of 1977.”
Donnelly heard an emergency request in her New York courtroom from the American Civil Liberties Union on behalf of a Syrian refugee family to stop the deportations, the Associated Press reported.
Donnelly, who graduated in 1977 from Oakwood High School, also is a 1984 graduate of the Ohio State University’s Moritz College of Law, according to her biography. She joined the federal court bench last year.
