URBANA, Ohio--The Ohio Fish and Shrimp Festival now has a new marketing tool.

Ohio artist Andrew Paavola has created two cartoon mascots for the festival, which is now in its 10th year, and will be held Sept. 16 to 18 at Freshwater Farms, 2624 N. U.S. 68, a mile north of Urbana.

The festival will feature locally grown seafood, live music, carnival rides and tours of the farm.

Paavola created cartoon representations of Flipper, a lake sturgeon that was raised at the farm, as well as Fluffy, an alligator that was captured at a local pond and delivered to the farm last year.

Children 3 to 11 years old will also be allowed to enter a coloring contest which features the illustrations.

The coloring page can be downloaded from www.fwfarms.com/festival. Before the event, the colored drawings can be scanned and emailed to cherie@fwfarms.com or mailed to Freshwater Farms of Ohio, 2624 N. U.S. 68, Urbana, Ohio, 43078.

Entries must be submitted by the end of the festival at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18.

Festival hours are 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17 and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18. For more information, residents can call (937) 652-3701.
