Fire destroys vacant Perry Twp. house

UPDATE @ 8 a.m.:

Firefighters are calling a fire ‘unusual’ that destroyed a vacant house in Perry Township Sunday morning.

Crews were dispatched to the 13000 block of Little Richmond Road around 4:45 a.m. Sunday on a reported fully involved structure fire.

New Lebanon Fire Chief George Markus said smoke and flames were visible from several blocks away. Markus added the fire might have been burning for some time as some parts of the house had already collapsed before crews arrived and neighbors on both sides of the structure were sleeping.

The fire is not being called suspicious, but unusual. Markus said the current owners were working inside the house on Saturday and no utilities or power were connected.

The structure is considered a total loss and no injuries were reported in the blaze.
