Fire reported at Beavercreek house

Update@3:30 p.m.:

Two dogs died in the fire, which caused extensive damage to the home in the 3500 block of Wendleton, said Scott Dorsten, deputy chief of the Beavercreek Twp. Fire Department.

Firefighters were alerted when a neighbor across the street noticed some flames and called 911, Dorsten said.

Flames were shooting out of the roof and sides of the structure when firefighters arrived at the scene, he said.

They entered the building and quickly extinguished the blaze and prevented it from spreading to the rest of the house, Dorsten said.

An official cause has not been determined, but the fire seems to have originated in an area where a wood burning stove is located he said, noting that the house is inhabitable.

The cost of damaged has not been determined, he said.
