Ken Ferree, Lilly’s grandfather, said her mother had recently relocated to Wisconsin after she secured a job there, and Lilly was set to move to be with her mom by the end of the month.
Troy Police Capt. Joe Long said they’ve talked to about eight other juveniles who were with her, and said they were swimming and diving off rocks last night.
"We've talked to some juveniles who were here with her, that it could have been that she was swimming to another point in the river and was going to come out on shore somewhere else," Long said. “They went home and got a hold of her grandfather and asked him if she'd returned home and when he said no that’s when the call came to us.”
Long said investigators estimate May was in the water for over an hour before she was pulled out.

Troy police Capt. Joe Long said the child, who is at least 12 years old, is believed to have been in the water for up to an hour. A firefighter and/or a police officer found her. She was underwater.
The early investigation reveals the girl had been swimming with friends, the captain said.
Long said he doesn’t have enough information to say whether the girl could swim.
He said it wouldn’t be a good idea to be swimming at night right now because of the recent heavy rains and the faster, higher currents that have created by the extra water.
The girl has been taken to Upper Valley Medical Center. Her condition is not known. A family member also at the park went to the hospital with the girl, Long said.
