New Casey’s General Store breaks ground in Clayton

Clayton officials broke ground Thursday on a new Casey’s General Store at the corner of Salem Avenue and Union Road.

Casey’s is a gas station that sells homemade pizza and donuts. It is set to open mid-October and will be paired with a new Burger King that is set to break ground this summer.

The store will be located at 6703 Salem Avenue. The chain has another location in New Lebanon.

The new Casey’s will generate income tax revenue for the city, said Jack Kuntz, Clayton director of development.

The original Casey’s General Store was opened in 1959 by Don Lamberti in Iowa as an old country store. The company now has more than 2,000 locations.
