Former Butler County auditor dies

Mike Brown, of Port Saint Lucie, Fla., and formerly of Butler County, passed away on Dec. 25. He was 75.

He served the residents of Butler County as a Fiscal Officer of Township and Village and as auditor of Butler County prior to Kay Rogers’ tenure in the office.

Brown retired from Armco Steel in 1986 and as assistant auditor of the state of Ohio in 2000.

His second wife, Carol, said his family celebrated his 75th birthday Nov. 27.

“He was kind and generous and loved his family,” she said.

She said some family members and her bought him a T-shirt which said, “I was famous in Ohio.”

He would start out each morning visiting the JournalNews website to see what was happening in Hamilton, she said.

Brown also is survived by his sons, Michael (Cathie), Timothy (Leanna) of Butler County, and Steven (Anna) of Joshua Tree, Calif.; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren; sisters, June Altman of Lakeland, Fla., and Jewel Collins of Butler County.

In addition, he is survived by his Florida family, Chris (Matt) Manning, Ann Hardy and three grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Yates Funeral Home and Crematory in Port Saint Lucie, Fla.
