Former Northmont elementary to be demolished

Northmont City Schools expects to spend about $800,000 to demolish a former elementary building that opened about 90 years ago.

The district closed the old O.R. Edgington Elementary School at last school year.

Demolition is expected to start in March or April next year.

Northmont first must perform asbestos abatement in the building, built in 1921.

District officials decided to demolish the school building after it didn't sell at a Sept. 27 auction.
