Midland Atlantic applied this month for a revision to a final development plan to build a more than 20,000-square-foot addition at 7720 Voice of America Centre Drive, which would pave the way for the grocery store.
The West Chester Twp. Zoning Commission is scheduled to consider the matter Nov. 21. If the application receives favorable response from the commission, the developer may then apply for a zoning certificate.
Plans submitted by Midland Atlantic to the township this month show a Fresh Market storefront facing the southern side of the shopping center on Tylersville Road, plus an additional smaller storefront adjacent to Lighting EFX at 7714 Voice of America Centre Drive.
West Chester Twp. Administrator Judi Boyko said Midland Atlantic’s application for a Fresh Market to the township’s zoning commission is exciting news.
“Midland Atlantic has previously and recently experienced several successes at the VOA retail center and West Chester is grateful for the shopping choices they bring to the community,” Boyko said.
A store opening generally adds about 90 full or part-time jobs to an area, company officials said Monday.
Founded in 1982, The Fresh Market now operates 107 stores in 21 states, officials said.
In Ohio, the company operates five locations in Ohio: two in Cincinnati, one in Columbus, Shaker Heights and Toledo.
Fresh Market, headquartered in Greensboro, N.C., plans to proceed with a nationwide expansion that will have an opening on 12 stores in the coming months.
The company’s culinary offerings include a bakery that produces 30 fresh breads and 14 varieties of pie daily, a full-service meat counter with freshly ground beef, a wide selection of ready-to-serve entrées, fresh seafood delivered to the store several times per week, and more than 200 imported and domestic cheeses, as well as a produce department with more than 400 items and a large organic selection.
