The Jackson Twp. Parks Board met March 10 with members of the Germantown Pool Board in attendance.
“Both boards voted on it and accepted it,” said Tom Izor, president of the Jackson Twp. Parks Board.
The coordinated passes are the result of citizen input.
“Some of the moms approached both Germantown and Farmersville and said it would be nice if you could come up with a Spartan pool pass,” Izor said.
“It was really how communities should work together,” he said.
At the Jackson Twp. Pool, a pass holder from Germantown will be admitted for just $2.50. Regular daily admission is $5.50.
“It’s a big discount on the price,” Izor said.
The same applies for Farmersville pass holders who want to swim at Germantown.
The pool passes will be available starting in April. A resident can buy an individual season pass for $45. A family or two will cost $80. Those prices are the same as for last year but will increase June 1.
Both Germantown and Farmersville adopted the same pricing schedules.
This year is the third season for Jackson Twp.’s pool. Izor said a few bugs were still being worked out last year.
“That actually went a lot smoother where we had nice, warm water for people,” he said.
Izor said efforts to improve cleaning — backwashing and filtration — also are being addressed. A grant is providing money for two “pergolas,” small shelters that will offer shade and seating for pool parties.
The Valley View VoAg (Vocational Agriculture) class is building eight new picnic tables for the park, which surrounds the pool. It’s located about a mile west of the village on Farmersville-Gratis Road.
The park offers fishing, sand volleyball, baseball, a track, a shelter and a community center, which can be rented.

In addition to Izor, the Jackson Twp. Parks Board consists of Jeff Tully, Jim Goecke, Rob Boyle and Rob Steward. Alissa McDaniel manages the pool.
The Germantown Pool Board and Pool Oversight Committee consists of Don Hurley, Randy Benson, Scott Sizemore, Annie Sizemore, Mike Lucas, Milt Bowman and vice chairman Brent Byerly. Chairman of the Germantown board is Jay Phares.
