Great views of ballpark: New apartments coming to downtown Dayton

The next phase of the Water Street District will be a five-story apartment building just east of Fifth Third Field called Centerfield Flats.

The L-shaped apartment building, with modern designs, will offer 112 units and first-floor restaurant space.

The apartments will be built on the former site of Dayton Supply & Tool at 507 E. First Street. The developers have submitted for a building permit and plan to begin demolition on the manufacturing facility next month.

The new apartments will be across the street from the eastern end of where the Dayton Dragons play.

The second floor of the building will have stadium seating in a community room, which will provide views of the inside of the ballpark.

Construction on the apartments is expected to take 12 to 13 months, with units opening in the summer of 2019.

The units will range in size, offering between 532-square-foot studios to 1,717-square-foot units with three bedrooms.

The building is about 120,000 square feet.
