Greene County commissioners on Thursday appointed a former senior engineer from a neighboring county to be the interim county engineer as Bob Geyer is set to retire at the end of the month.

Commissioners appointed Stephanie Goff to fill the role beginning June 1.

Goff, who is already working for the Greene County office as the chief deputy engineer, previously worked as the senior engineer and project manager for Montgomery County.

Goff is only the third female county engineer in Ohio, joining Melissa Miller of Jackson County and Amy Zwick of Monroe County.

The county’s Republican Party Central Committee is expected to choose in July who will serve the remainder of Geyer’s elected term, which ends in December 2020.
