The fourth annual Wright State University Thanksgiving Day meal for students who cannot travel home for the holiday will take place on Thursday, Nov. 26, from noon to 3 p.m. on the main floor of Wright State Nutter Center, 3640 Colonel Glenn Highway.
Between 500 and 1,000 students are expected to participate in Raidersgiving, which started in 2012 as a small bring-a-dish event attended by just a few students.
Because of the increased attendance, it is now a catered meal and organizers have created Adopt–a-Raider, allowing donors to help cover the expenses. Each $10 gift feeds one student.
Donations can be made online at www.wright.edu/give/raidersgiving.
There will be traditional Thanksgiving fare, as well as Jeet Indian and Halal food. There will not be a potluck as in years past.
After the meal, activities will include making Christmas cards for children at Dayton Children’s Hospital, playing board and card games and watching the evening Wright State men’s basketball game.
Students, faculty and staff interested in participating or helping to organize Raidersgiving should contact Sommer Todd at sommer.todd@wright.edu or Teresa Pack at teresa.pack@wright.edu. DIANA BLOWERS, CONTRIBUTING WRITER
