Rails-to-Trails to open new office

Rails-to-Trails Conservancy has relocated its Midwest Regional Office to Yellow Springs and will host an grand opening and health bike fair on Saturday, Oct. 17.

RTC, a non-profit organization, is the nation’s largest trails organization with more than 160,000 members and supporters.

The event, which will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., will include films highlighting RTC’s history at the Little Art Theatre on Xenia Avenue; the open house and fair at the regional office located at 716 Xenia Ave., Suite 2; and and remarks from elected officials and regional leaders.

City receives state auditor award

The City of Beavercreek recently received the Ohio Auditor of State Award with Distinction for the city’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for fiscal year 2014.

The auditor said this award is given for exemplary financial reporting in accordance with general accepted accounting principles, according to the city.

The Ohio Auditor of State Award with Distinction is presented to local governments and school districts after a financial audit is completed.

Bellbrook sets meeting schedule for October

City Council will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12, and Monday, Oct. 26. Both meetings are in Council Chambers, 15 E. Franklin St.

Candidate forum set for Oct. 15

A candidate forum for Xenia candidates who are on the Nov. 3 ballot is being sponsored by the League of Women Voters of the Greater Dayton Area. The forum will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15, at the Xenia Adult Recreation and Services Center, 130 E. Church St.

The forum will give voters an opportunity to hear candidates who are running for local public office discuss their positions on various issues. STAFF REPORT
