Greene County rebuilds park after Memorial Day tornado damage

Greene County Parks and Trails invited the public to rebuild the Lovely Nature Playscape after it was damaged after the Memorial Day tornadoes.

The Lovely Nature Playscape at 2380 Kemp Road is part of the Russ Nature Reserve.

The reserve was damaged heavily during the tornadoes, after which 900 trees had to be removed.

Ashley Schmidt, a naturalist for Greene County Parks, said that volunteers and the community are very important to the park system.

“We couldn’t do a lot of things without our volunteer help that we have and the dedication from the community as well,” she said.
