He began his career as a math teacher at Beavercreek and Bellbrook high schools.
Bennett was selected from five finalists who interviewed for the position and 28 applicants, according to a list provided by Treasurer Ryan Jenkins.
The board and Bennett are still working on a start date for his contract, said Christopher Mohr, of K12 Business Consulting Inc., the firm Greenon hired to conduct its search after former Superintendent Lori Lytle resigned to accept a job at Benjamin Logan Schools.
Mohr will make slightly less than Lytle at $117,000, said Mohr. He holds a master’s degree in education administration from the University of Dayton.
