Group robbed at gun point, carjacked

Three people were robbed at gunpoint and one of their cars was stolen outside an apartment building on West Fairview Avenue early Sunday morning.

The group of two men and one woman told police they had just arrived home from a bar and one of them was trying to open the front door to the building when two men in hoods walked up and pointed handguns at them.

According to a Dayton Police incident report, the suspects ordered the group to empty their pockets and get on the ground. They stole the female’s purse, phone and the keys to her car and took one of the male’s wallets.

The suspects then drove off in the woman’s blue Chevy Cobalt. The victims told police that they believe the men arrived in a pickup truck with several other males inside. That truck left the area after the robbery.

Police recovered the stolen Chevy a short time later on Bancroft Street where someone had crashed it. The suspects had fled, but left the man’s wallet inside inside the vehicle.
