MEDINA, Ohio -- A jury in northeast Ohio has found a man guilty of aggravated murder in the antifreeze poisoning of his wife.

Sixty-year-old Dennis Auerswald of Medina was convicted Friday in Medina County Common Pleas Court in the 2009 death of 60-year-old Maureen Auerswald.

The Plain Dealer of Cleveland reports that prosecutors believe Auerswald poisoned his wife in a cup of cranberry juice because he was facing financial difficulties and wanted to collect life insurance money and date other women.

The Medina Gazette reports that Auerswald's lawyer suggested in closing arguments that Maureen Auerswald may have committed suicide while framing her husband or may have been trying to kill him but inadvertently poisoned herself.

Auerswald faces up to life in prison when sentenced April 11. He plans to appeal the verdict.
