Hamilton area McDonald’s to get makeover

Wednesday's Business In brief

DEVELOPMENT

The Schmidt family, the owners of five area McDonald’s, will be renovating two of its locations.

The interior and exterior of the restaurants at 1420 Millville Ave. and at 20 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. will be remodeled, said Joel Schmidt, owner of McSchmidt Enterprises LLC.

The interiors of the restaurants will get a more contemporary look, with televisions and free game consoles for kids, he said. The exteriors will be of McDonald’s latest arcade style, with golden arches on the building and a stone front, he said.

It’ll be a similar look to their restaurant on Northwest Washington Boulevard that was rebuilt in 2008.

In addition, the renovations to the Martin Luther King Jr. location include kitchen updates that will shut the restaurant down for four days, at a time to be announced. Schmidt added the project in downtown Hamilton starts Saturday and will last about five weeks.

The project on Millville Avenue will start later this month and is expected to last seven to eight weeks. He added that the Millville location will get an expanded lobby, another entrance from the back and a double- lane drive-through, which the rest of the family’s restaurants already have.

Both restaurants have a combined 130 full- and part-time employees, of a total 300 employees in the company.

OPENING

Restaurant to offer free wings

The first 100 customers of Buffalo Wild Wings Grill and Bar at its new location opening July 11 at Bridgewater Falls will get free chicken wings for a year, said Jim Ruch, Cincinnati regional manager for Buffalo Wild Wings.

Buffalo Wild Wings is moving its Fairfield Twp. location from 3141 Princeton Road to Bridgewater Falls Lifestyle Shopping Center, 3417 Princeton Road, Suite 100. Its last day of business at the old location was Friday, Ruch said.

On opening day, the first 100 customers will get a coupon book for six free wings a week for 52 weeks, he said. The restaurant opens at 11 a.m., he said.

He said the 75 new employees, as well as employees from the old restaurant, are in training mode.
