History speakers offer January programs in Vandalia

VANDALIA – History speakers Ryan Qualls, Martin Stewart, Mitch Fogle and Terry Purke will visit the Senior Center, 21 Tiondar Dr. S., to speak on various topics, all taking place at 1 p.m.

Qualls is from the Dayton Aviation Heritage Historical Park and will talk about “Growing Up in Dayton,” around the time the Wright Brothers were alive and working on their first flight. The topic will cover the Wright Brothers and more. Qualls will speak Jan. 9.

Stewart wrote a book called Redemption, The 71st Ohio Volunteer Infantry in the Civil War. Stewart will talk about the Ohio volunteers fighting in the Civil War. He will be at the center Jan. 23.

Both Fogle and Purke will speak on the veteran museums in the Dayton area, one on grounds of Veteran Affairs (VA) and the second in Troy, called the Miami Valley Veterans Museum. The pair will bring artifacts to share and tell about the museums’ historical contents and future projects. Fogle and Purke will be at the center Jan. 30.
