LEBANON — It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas — both on the streets of downtown Lebanon and in some of the city’s most historic and elegant homes.

Historic Downtown Lebanon Inc. is offering a rare chance to see some of these privately owned homes decked out in Christmas decorations during the Holiday Tour of Homes from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday.

The tour will offer visitors a chance to see eight distinctive homes, highlighting 19th- and early 20th-century architecture, said the organization’s director Candace Lee.

Among the homes featured are an authentic Sears and Roebuck Catalog home, a ski lodge-style log cabin, an elegant bed and breakfast, and a Victorian farmhouse.

“This tour will show a variety of different types of homes from the 19th century to a renovated 1950s house,” Lee said. “It’s a real unusual mix.”

One of the tour’s highlights, Lee said, is a contemporary log home designed to appear as a ski lodge and overlooking 16 acres of beautiful farm and wood lands. The cabin has been decorated with a miniature Christmas village and a 12-foot Christmas tree.

Five of the homes are within walking distance of one another, while the other three are easily accessible by car, Lee said.

Lee said that the map to guide people to the homes is specially designed to take travelers on a tour of the city, allowing them to see some of the city’s fabulous older homes as well as Christmas decorations throughout the city.

Several of the homeowners also will offer Christmas treats, including hot apple cider and Christmas cookies, to visitors.

Tickets for this self-guided tour can be purchased for $15 in advance of the tour date at the Lebanon Banquet and Convention Center, 105 S. Broadway St.; the Golden Turtle Chocolate Factory, 120 S. Broadway St.; and the Pink Hippo, 15 N. Broadway St. Tickets can also be purchased on the day of the tour for $20 at the tour’s registration desk at the Lebanon Banquet and Convention Center.

A portion of the proceeds from the tour will benefit the Lebanon Food Pantry. The tour supports HDLI’s efforts to promote Lebanon’s historic downtown. Call (513) 228-2322.
