“The mission of Homefull and Grandview is to improve the health of the community.”

Lead Pastor at First Baptist Church in Dayton, Reverend Kent Berghuis, lives blocks away from the hospital and understands why west Dayton is considered a food desert.

“One of the things that has concerned us about living in this neighborhood is how far it is to go and get decent food,” he said. “I came here and said I want to buy food on this side of town, and I went to a grocery store for a few months and it closed. Then I started going to another one and just recently that was destroyed by a tornado.”

While this stand allows residents to enjoy close, affordable, fresh food, Lewis says it's also great for those who work nearby.
"Anybody is welcome. Our employees are so excited."
