Police seek information into shooting death of Dayton man

UPDATE @ 3:37 p.m. (June 6): Dayton Police are looking for information in the death of Silas B. Nevins, who was shot and killed Tuesday night.

After being shot on South Euclid Avenue, Nevins was transported to Miami Valley Hospital by a private vehicle before officers arrived, according to police. Witnesses were not forthcoming with information related to the shooting, police said.

INITIAL REPORT: A Dayton man died from his injuries at the hospital after he was shot on South Euclid Avenue late Tuesday night, according to officials.

Silas B. Nevins, 34, died from his injuries shortly after being taken to Miami Valley Hospital, according to Montgomery County Coroner Dr. Kent Harsbarger.

The hospital notified Dayton police a shooting victim was dropped off at the emergency room just after 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to dispatch records.

Police responded to the 1000 block of South Euclid Avenue and located what they believed was the scene of the incident.

Investigators were not able to provide many details, however said multiple scenes were being processed in connection to the incident.

No arrests have been made, according to a police incident report, and it is unknown if police have any suspects.
