The bus driver said shots were fired from the car, damaging at least two windows on the bus in the area of West Fairview and Emerson avenues.

The bus driver, attempting to get away from the car, drove to EJ Brown Elementary School on Willowwood Drive, about a mile away, when the car eventually left the scene.

“(The bus driver has) the kids down low because she’s afraid (about) what’s going on,” the First Student dispatcher said in the 911 call.

The call indicates 26 students were on the bus but none were injured by the shots or broken glass.

The bus was not headed to a EJ Brown Elementary, nor any Dayton Public Schools. It was not immediately clear which school the bus was heading to.

Police said the shots were fired from either a BB gun or pellet gun but did not indicate if there were any suspects or suspect vehicles.

We’ll continue to update this story as we learn more.
