Fire officials are investigating the cause of a house fire that occurred on Speice Avenue, which was one of three reported within the same hour early Independence Day morning.

Crews were dispatched to the blaze, which occurred in the 1700 block around 12:25 a.m., and found smoke coming from the home.

Firefighters say the fire started in the kitchen and spread to the attic area.

There were two occupants, including the home owner, inside the house at the time of the blaze. They were able to make it out safely, unharmed, officials confirm.

The cause of the fire, as well as damage estimates remain under investigation.

In addition to the Speice Avenue fire, another structure fire was reported in Harrison Twp. on Lodell Avenue around midnight. Initial reports indicate there was heavy smoke showing from the house, though the fire was knocked down.

Fire crews responded to a third fire around the same time as the Speice Avenue blaze. It was reported at a house on Briar Place, also in Harrison Twp., with heavy smoke coming from the single-story home.

Further details on the Lodell Avenue and Briar Place house fires were not immediately available.
